PC01 Moving to PowerBuilder 11.0

Job Description: Applications Developer
Get hands-on experience and learn how to use the new features of PowerBuilder 11: User Interface changes, new language features, database support additions and Application Server deployment options. You will be exposed to the latest .Net features of PowerBuilder 11.0, including deploying PowerBuilder applications as .Net Web applications (ASP.Net 2.0), deploying PowerBuilder applications as .Net WinForm applications and the creation of Smart Client applications. You will learn how to create .Net Assemblies from PowerBuilder and use these assemblies in a true .Net (C#) application. We will also show you how to access members of true .Net assemblies (.Net framework classes or your own) from a PowerBuilder application. Finally, you will create, deploy and test .Net Web services from PowerBuilder. As a PowerBuilder developer, this session will help you learn Sybase’s approach to web-based development using the .NET capabilities of PowerBuilder 11.0 more quickly and efficiently.

Learn how to improve your application performance using proven techniques for client/ server based technologies, as well as performance improvement techniques for developers writing or migrating to web-enabled applications. You will learn about handling XML with the PBDOM, file management, database technologies, scripting tips, and must-know internal mechanisms of PowerBuilder to help you develop the most robust and fastest applications possible.
PC03 Building .Net Applications with C# and DataWindow.Net 2.0

Job Description: Applications Developer
This session bridges the gap between PowerBuilder and Visual Studio. Learn to reuse your PowerBuilder DataWindow/DataStore skills when building .Net applications using C#. Basic knowledge of the .Net framework classes as well as the C# language is assumed and required. You can meet these pre-requisites by completing an on-line self study which will be provided to all who register for this session. Using hands-on exercises, you will learn how to develop DataWindow objects, connection and transaction management code using the “legacy” Sybase Transaction object as well as perform similar functionality using the ADO.Net interface(s). Many advanced DataWindow topics will be covered, including how to dynamically create DataWindows and dynamically change the behavior of DataWindows, and creating an ASP.Net Web application using the DataWindow .Net technology. All labs and examples are developed in C#.
PC04 Advanced Modeling Techniques using PowerDesigner 12

Learn advanced PowerDesigner features and techniques such as how to customize the PowerDesigner interface. You will gain a better understanding of the PowerDesigner Generation Template Language and MetaModel, how to use impact analysis, properly control generation settings and behaviors using transformations. You will also learn how to implement naming standards and conversion tables, define Extended Model Definitions and customize Language files to include custom stereotypes, menu items and custom forms. For the more advanced user of PowerDesigner, this session will give you a more in-depth skill set on customizing PowerDesigner to fit your business needs.
PC05 Essential Techniques for Object Oriented Modeling using PowerDesigner 12

Job Description: Applications Developer
This session is highly interactive, where you are expected to be part of a design and development team working towards a solid design of an online banking system. You will use the UML and PowerDesigner 12 to assist in making all the decisions towards a final solution. Starting with high-level requirements you will create a high-level Domain model, move on to creating UML Use Case diagrams and Use Case Specifications, detailing all the requirements. Interaction diagrams (Sequence Diagrams) will be created to show detailed interaction between the objects identified by the Use Cases, resulting in further definition of the operations needed by the application. The culmination of the design session will include the creation of UML Class diagrams showing the detail and relationship between all objects, their attributes and operations. New and advanced PowerDesigner Object-Oriented modeling features will be highlighted by the instructor, such as Code generation, Reverse engineering, Reporting options, Repository, Extended Model Definitions, and Requirements models.
PC06 Powering Up with Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) 15.0

Learn how to use and gain hands-on experience with powerful, flexible and emerging techniques for getting the most out of eBiz Impact. The session will cover four topics. The first, Custom External C/C++ Functions in ODL Projects, can be used to enable otherwise difficult solutions. You will learn how to create, implement, install, deploy, test and call these functions. The second, Implementing Java AIMs, will present basic concepts and techniques for Object Oriented Programming and how to apply them to writing Java AIMs using two methods - a remote access method and a plugin access method. The third, Integrating Web Services with Impact, will show how to provide attractive web-based options for application interfaces. A sample query and response application will be reviewed. The fourth, Implementing Web-based CNC functions with Impact, will explore Impact's Java CNC interface and demonstrate how to call these functions from Java applications and web browser interfaces.
